| 2006 Trail Camera Shootout |
| You can run a trail camera through every bench test imaginable however, what really matters is how well a camera performs in the field. We lined up 8 of the most popular trail cameras and tested their ability to capture an image of a moving target. Our test subject walked in front of all 8 cameras at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, & 60 foot distances . Each scouting camera was given a score of 0-8 at each distance. Higher scores were awarded to those cameras which captured images on the leading edge of the picture frame. Cameras that didn't capture an image of the target, or failed to take a picture were given a "0". Results from each distance and aggregate scores are listed below. |

| Comments |
| Trigger time and detection width were the determining factors in how well each camera scored. However, detection width turned out to be the more important of the two. Cameras with wide detection zones like the Wildview, Leafriver and Stealth were able to detect and capture images of the test subject before he even entered the detection zone of the other cameras. |
