2011 Fall Trail Camera Shootout
This is, quite possibly, the ultimate test of a Trail Camera. At the end of the day, you simply want to know whether your camera will take a picture of whatever walks in front of it. The 2011 Fall Trail Camera Shootout finds out which cameras do exactly that, and maybe more importantly, which cameras don't.
How we Scored
For each picture, from every camera, we place grid-lines on the photo to split the photo in 8 different sections. The picture below is an example:
We walk each distance twice (in 10ft. increments), to find a more consistent average.
If the picture is taken and the person is in the first section of the grid-line, the score is an 8. If the picture is taken and the person is in the last grid-line, the score is a 1. If it is a blank picture, score is a 0. Scores are tallied and we come up with a "Total Score."
The Shootout was done in 65° F weather. You will notice the cameras did not detect as far out as they did in the 2011 Spring Shootout. This just proves how variable cameras can be on their own, and also as a result of the temperature outside.
