Useful Features

Zooming in for the close-up

The reason many people use hand-held viewers is because they need to see the pictures quickly.  Not only do they need to see them quickly but they need to identify the animal (i.e. count antler points, i.d. a certain small species, etc.) accurately while in the field.  The Cudview helps in this regard because of its incredible zoom feature.  You can not only zoom in on the rack of a distant buck, but also zoom in on a certain mouse species scurrying on the forest floor.  As you can see in the above feature, it can be the difference between thinking you see a nice mature buck, to realizing you have an absolute monster roaming your property!

Accepts only SD Cards

You will be able to view and download the images from the SD card.

Download Images and View at home

The Cuddeview allows you to go to each camera, take the card out, download and save the images to the Cuddeview, erase images from the card and place back in the camera, and then move on to the next camera trap setup.  With a Cuddeview, you will only need one memory card per camera instead of two.  So, download the images to the Cuddeview while you are in the field, and then take them home and download them to your computer and look at them on the big screen.  No more fumbling with multiple cards, it will all be at one location.  You will only need one extra SD card for just the Cuddeview X2 viewer, to transfer the images.

You can also hook the Cuddeview up to your TV and view the pictures as a slideshow.  The Cuddeview comes with the TV in/out cords.

What we don't like

We have used all the other trail cam picture viewers on the market.  The Cuddeview is the one with the most features, easiest setup and best viewing screen.  However, we have found a higher rate of initial failure than is the norm.  It seems that if you get a working Cudview, it will work really well for you for a long time.  On the other hand, there seems to be a decent amount that don't work straight out of the packaging.  I can't explain it other than shoddy quality control at the factory.

However, if you buy a Cuddeview from us, just put a note on the order that you would like us to check the viewer before shipping it.  This way we can assure you that the viewer will work properly upon arrival.

I also wish the Cuddedview would play videos.  Unfortunately, neither does it, nor any of the other viewers on the market.  Hopefully this is something they can work on in the future.

Conclusion

I think the Cudview is a worthy investment if; you have multiple cameras to check, if you need to view the pictures in the field and in a hurry, or if you don't have a computer to view the pictures on.  The Cuddeback Cuddeview is clearly loaded with features, but not so much that it is cluttered or hard to navigate.  The Cudview is very user-friendly.  I also like how clear the viewing screen is, but, my favorite part is how well this viewer zooms in on a picture.  That feature by itself, makes the Cuddeback Cuddeview a no-brainer for the trail cam enthusiast.
