For the fourth year in a row, Reconyx comes out on top.  We have been talking about the Reconyx detection circuit for years now, and they never cease to amaze us.  The Reconyx that we used for the 2010 Shootout this year, is the HC500 (you can expect identical results from the HC600, SM750 and SC950).  The HC500 detected out to 90 feet and in total, took 108 pictures during the shootout.  That is an average of 12 pictures per distance.

Why does Reconyx do so well every year?  For starters, an American made camera with a 0.16 second trigger speed never hurts.  Add that to the fact it can detect to 90 ft., and its detection width perfectly matches the cameras field of view and you have an impressive camera.  However, what really sets Reconyx apart from the competition, is the recovery time.  Reconyx, when set in Rapidfire mode, recovers in under one second.  It can take roughly 3 pictures per second.  There is nothing that compares to this.

Reconyx's company slogan is "See what you have been missing."  I think the results would tell you, if you are using just about any other camera, you are missing quite a bit.
