The Spartan GoLive Verizon Cellular camera is the first trail camera that streams live video. Log in to your camera from anywhere in the world and see what is happening in near real-time (it has a 4-5 second delay). This live stream Spartan GoLive camera operates on Verizon 4G/LTE towers.

Photos are realistic, clear, and demonstrate good contrast. The Verizon Spartan live stream camera stops motion well and isn't overly interpolated. The no-glow flash produces good illumination, good contrast, and renders clear photos.

Night IR Blur Test
The equipment for the test consists of a target moving along a track from left to right at a constant speed controlled by a stepper motor and a sensor to trigger the capture of a picture near the center of the field of view of a trail camera.
The target is moving at 1.25 feet per second and is 10 feet from the camera at the center of field of view. The test is conducted in a dark room. Two pictures are taken, one with the target not moving and one with the target in motion. A visual comparison can now be made of the two pictures. All settings that affect the quality of night photos will be tested.
Manufacturers are in a race to offer cameras with the highest megapixels. They want to trick consumers into believing a camera with more megapixels must be better than one with less. This is simply not true. The vast majority of trail cameras use a 5-megapixel image sensor or smaller. Through interpolation, manufacturers digitally enhance their photos up to resolutions as high as 32 megapixels. Typically, these interpolated photos look no better than photos taken at their native (original) resolution. Interpolation offers few benefits but definitely has disadvantages. For instance, a native 5 megapixel image interpolated up to 32 megapixels would have nowhere near the clarity and resolution of a true, native 32 megapixel photo, but it would have the same file size. This larger file size greatly reduces the number of photos you can store on a memory card. Additionally, the larger files take longer to process and slow your camera down.
The best way to judge picture quality is to look at actual pictures. We've found cameras with quality image sensors and a premium lens (the best use glass) produce the highest quality photos. We recommend programming your camera to capture photos at its native resolution. You'll store more photos on any given memory card and your camera will capture and store images as fast as possible.

Trigger speed is half a second, which is pretty solid for a cellular trail camera. Recovery time is wildly inconsistent and depends on a number of variables. Most cellular game cameras detect motion, capture an image, and are disabled while they transmit. The GoLive is different. It continues to take photos as long as something is moving in front of the camera while it's simultaneously sending previously captured pictures. Recovery time depends on the amount and duration of the activity. Detection Range averages 70 ft. and the detection angle is 10 degrees narrower than the field of view. Accordingly, there will be areas in the picture where the camera can't detect motion. Under normal circumstances, we would be very critical of this detection/lens angle mismatch. However, with the added cost of streaming video, the smaller detection zone could be seen as a benefit. This small zone prevents the GoLive from triggering when animals are too distant to recognize or about to wander out of the field of view. The GoLive won't trigger as often as other cameras, but when it does you'll have a better chance of logging in and viewing decent video.

Add lithium batteries and SD cards to the camera and turn it on. Enter the required information. Use the setup wizard to complete the install (you can install via the camera or the Spartan smartphone app. This will take a few minutes, especially if doing it from the camera.)

The camera's case design is solid and works well. The latch is big and beefy and opens/closes easily; even in cold weather. The functionality of the screen, viewer, and settings operate quickly and intuitively. We do like that the GoLive has two threaded inserts (one on the back and one on the bottom) for a Slate River Mount. The GoLive also has a python bracket on the back of the camera. The GoLive camera has an internal battery that can be charged via a 12-volt external power source. We recommend doing this before putting the camera in the field as it will give your battery life a boost. Additionally, the internal battery powers the GoLive's GPS unit allowing the camera to be located even if the AA's are removed.

Q: Will this trail camera trigger on small animals (birds, rodents, etc.)?
A: Trail cameras detect on a combination of heat and movement, so, yes, small mammals will trigger the camera. However, if you are going after smaller warm-blooded mammals, we recommend getting the camera closer to your target. For best performance, place the camera in an area that would enable picture detection from 3 - 20 ft.
Q: Can animals see the infrared flash on this Live Streaming Security Game camera?
A:This is somewhat controversial. Most humans can't tell when a picture is taken as the spectrum of light used by this flash is above what the human eye can detect. However, all humans are genetically unique, and apparently, a very small percentage can identify the flash. Animals are no different, but research shows the vast majority are unaffected by the placement of a "No Glow" camera.
