The Spartan 4G/LTE White Flash camera is not surprisingly similar to Spartan's other cell models with the exception of being a White LED trail camera. This unique feature allows the camera to take color night photos/videos. We found the picture quality, case design, and battery life to all be solid. The detection circuit is below average and you should expect to spend a bit of time in the set up process. - TCP Staff

Pictures are a plus and night photos are in color
Great battery life
Solid case design
Below average detection circuit
Setup can take a while
Picture Quality: 86/100
Photo resolution: 8 mpxl (interpolated)
Flash Type: White LED Flash
Any picture that is sent from the camera is a compressed file, so the resolution and size are smaller. The full-size image will be saved on the sd card. The sample photos you will see here are a mix of full resolution and emailed photos. Cellular pictures are always hard to evaluate because of the pixelation from the compression of the file. However, day pictures are solid and possess decent color.
Night pictures will be in full color, as this is a Spartan white flash camera (White LED). Keep in mind, this produces a bright white flash of light at night and it stays on as long as it takes to snap a photo or record a video. The night picture quality is good and the photos appear to be quite clear. There was less blurring than we have seen on older White LED camera models, however, the camera still lacks flash range beyond the initial 40-50 ft. Overall, both day and night pictures are quite good.
What if you purchase from us and aren't happy with the image quality?
This is a common question and we have a very simple solution. Call, email, or chat with us and we can take a look at the images and offer suggestions or immediately tell if something is wrong with the Spartan white flash camera. If so, we will warranty the camera for you (with the free 2-Year warranty you receive from us) or return the camera for a full refund (within 90 days of purchase). You have control of the process, remember, we work for you.
In the past, many people get confused with the megapixel rating trail camera manufacturers advertise. Companies inflate the mpxl rating to attract eyes to their products. They do this through interpolation, whichdigitally adds megapixels to a photo without actually improving the picture.
The best way to judge picture quality is to look at actual pictures. You will notice this the most when you zoom in on a full-size image that a camera has taken. The details of the photo will appear hazy or even digitized. This is normal, and to be expected.
Battery Life: 80/100
Picture & Video Resting Power (on): 0.47 mW
Picture Daytime/Nighttime Power Consumption: 42.48 Ws | 47.16 Ws
If this Spartan white flash camera took 15-day pictures and 15-night pictures every 24 hours, it would last 4.1 months on a set of lithium batteries. This is really good for both a cellular camera and a white LED camera.
Detection Circuit: 73/100
Picture Trigger & Recovery Speed: 0.69 s. | 47.1 s.
Video Trigger Speed: 3.41 s.
Detection Range & Angle: 70 ft. @ 46.2° Detection Angle (42° Field of View)
The picture trigger is slow but the recovery time is above average.
The detection range is 70 feet, which is decent. The detection zone is large enough to cover a big area, allowing you to monitor open areas whether you are using the camera for security or wildlife.
Quality of Design: 87/100
Dimensions: 6" x 5" x 3.25" w/o antenna
Battery Type: 12 AA
External Battery Jack: 6-Volt
We are not a fan of the setup process. It is long, layered, and can be complicated and expensive.

Go through the settings and customize them to your needs (i.e. set the date/time, sensitivity preference, flash power, etc.).
Once you get to the wireless tab, set them to the following
Send Mode: Instant

Recipient: Hit enterand add either one email address. The camera is only able to accept email addresses. In the past, you were able to add phone numbers via a "jailbreak," but this is no longer active and working.
Name Tag: On
Power Saving: On
Once your settings are correct, you can test the camera's ability to send a photo. Hit the "Menu" button until you are back to the live preview screen. Hit the "Ok" button to take a photo. The camera will ask if you want to "Send this photo?" Hit Ok to send. If the camera is setup properly and you have at least 3 bars of reception, it should say "Send Successful" after 30-60 seconds. If so, your camera is ready to go. Simply turn it on when you are ready to place it in the field.
The camera's case design is solid and works well. The latch is big and beefy, and manipulates easily even in cold weather. The functionality of the screen, viewer, and settings operate quickly and intuitively. This is one of the stronger aspects of this camera.

FAQ's: Trail Camera
Q: How do I view the pictures?
A: There are a number of ways to do this. Pictures/videos are stored on the SD card you place in the camera. Here are some other methods for viewing images:
View pictures on your computer. Plug the SD card in a desktop computer or laptop via the built-in SD card reader or use a USB reader if your computer doesn't have one. This method works for most tablets as well. With this method, we recommend having two SD cards per camera so you can swap them in the field.
Trail Camera Viewers. While more expensive, handheld viewers are useful if you don't have a smartphone or run multiple trail cameras.
Q: Will this trail camera trigger on small animals (birds, rodents, etc.)?
A: Trail cameras detect on a combination of heat and movement, so, yes, small mammals will trigger the camera. However, if you are going after smaller warm-blooded mammals, we recommend getting the camera closer to your target. For best performance, place the camera in an area that would enable picture detection from 3 - 20 ft.
Q: Can animals see the infrared flash on this camera?
A: Absolutely. This white LED camera will light up the immediate vicinity for however long it takes to take the photo.
Q: Where can I purchase this camera?
A: From us! We hope to woo you with our incredible charm, two-year warranty, 90-day returns, free continental U.S. shipping, and technical expertise. If that isn't enough, we give you a 16 Gig SD card with this camera and you can call and talk our ear off anytime.
