| Conclusion
|
Plain & Simple - The Reconyx Rapidfire units are the best consumer grade trail cameras I've tested. I've never tested a trail camera with a trigger speed this quick. It was so quick I couldn't accurately test it. I think its fair to say Reconyx is not exaggerating when they claim a 1/10th second trigger time. If you have any doubts, check out the 3 pictures above. Being fast enough to catch a picture of a buck in mid flight is impressive. However, catching not one, but two pictures of a rabbit running at full speed puts this camera in a class entirely by itself. Equally impressive is the RM45's ability to detect motion. This unit picked me up at 100' on an 80 degree day. No unit I have tested has come close on a hot day. However, the most impressive quality of the Reconyx units is their "Near Video" technology (See pictures 2-7 above). The Reconyx Rapidfire series cameras can be programed to take 2 pictures a second, every second with no time out period. This means that as long as something is moving in front of the Reconyx it's taking 2 pictures a second, every second until that animal leaves. No other camera currently available is capable of this. If you're looking for the maximum amount of detail in a situation where an animal isn't expected to stay long this is your camera.
