Trailcampro Analysis
The Reconyx SM750 is the only infrared trail camera on the market that can capture vehicle license plates at night.
Most plates are reflective and state laws mandate that you have lights
shine on the plates. This effectively "washes" out the plate for an
infrared camera and all you normally get is a white blur.
The SM750 has been programmed to overcome the reflective
surface and to capture the plates and identify the intruder. At the
expense of capturing the license plate number, the rest of the picture
is almost completely black. The pictures must be dimmed down enough so
that the plates won't get "washed" out.
As a result of the dark pictures, the Reconyx SM750 is only useful as a license plate camera.
However, it is the only camera that is capable of this and it does an
amazing job at it. You can capture license plate numbers at speeds of
around 40-50 mph.
The detection circuit of the sm750 is typical of a
Reconyx, blazing fast. The detection range is also more than
sufficient. You can effectively capture license plates at night out to around 30-40 ft. with the flash range. Please note that the camera is only in black and white. There are no color pictures.
The SM750 is also covert,
meaning the infrared LED's do not emit light, which keeps the camera
from being spotted by the drivers. You must use either the Tenergy Nimh Rechargeable AA Batteries (12 pack) or simple lithium batteries because this is a covert camera.
Overall, if you need to find out who is driving on your
property by capturing their license plate number, this is the only
camera that can do that. We highly recommend this camera for vehicle security surveillance.
