2010 Trail Camera ShootoutView the new 2011 Trail Camera Shootout
This is, quite possibly, the ultimate test of a Trail Camera. At the end of the day, you simply want to know whether your camera will take a picture of whatever walks in front of it. The 2010 Trail Camera Shootout finds out which cameras do exactly that, and maybe more importantly, which cameras don't.
How we Scored
We modified our scoring just a bit for this years Shootout. For each picture, from every camera, we place grid-lines on the photo to split the photo in 8 different sections. The picture below is an example:
We walked each distance twice (in 10ft. increments), to find a more consistent average. For instance, if the camera scored a 3 on the first walk and a 4 on the second walk, it will be shown as - "3, 4."
If the picture is taken and the person is in the first section of the grid-lines, the score is an 8. If the picture is taken and the person is in the last grid-line, the score is a 1. If a blank picture is taken, the score is a 0. Scores are then tallied and we come up with a "Total Score."
