Video Mode
If this camera were to take 15 day and 15 night videos every 24 hours, it would last 4.1 months in the field on a set of Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries.
Ultimate Lithium batteries are the longest-lasting battery choice due to their incredible consistency and capacity. We've loved these batteries for a long time. However, in recent years they have become cost prohibitive and forced us to seek out a more affordable, eco-friendly option.

Case Design
The redesigned Tactacam features a unique design unlike anything we've seen in the trail camera industry. At first, it can be a little confusing to open, but after doing it a few times the process becomes straightforward. It may still be a bit challenging to operate with cold hands in the field.
The setup switch is located beneath a side flap. While the flap can be somewhat difficult to fully seal initially, making sure it is completely closed is important to prevent water intrusion. The side-mounted antenna is well protected by an additional cover, a smart design choice that helps reduce the chance of moisture entering the camera.
Accessing the battery compartment requires fully opening the side flap. The battery pack is smooth and can be slippery when removing it, so a firm grip is helpful. A release flap provides access to the 12 AA battery tray, then pulling on the lid button. The optional SD card slot is located beneath the battery compartment. Reinstalling the battery flap takes a little alignment.
Security is well thought out, with provisions for both a Python cable lock through the back of the camera and a padlock on the door. Tactacam also offers optional FlexPack battery systems, including the smaller R5 FlexPack Power System and the R10 FlexPack Power System, which maintains the camera's overall size while providing additional power.
Overall, the camera feels exceptionally rugged and well-built, offering impressive durability and thoughtful design features for its price point.
