We have tested a lot of AA rechargeable batteries over the years, most of which we end up discarding. The XTAR Rechargeable Lithium AA caught and held our attention for a number of valuable reasons.
Each battery has a microprocessor on the tip that regulates the voltage to exactly 1.5 volts throughout the entire lifecycle of the battery.
Each battery has a 3300 mWh capacity which is equivalent 2000 mAh. You can expect up to 1000 recharges per battery.
These batteries are compatible with all trail cameras that use AA batteries.
In freezing temperatures, you should expect a 10% reduction in capacity.
Charging should take 2 to 3 hours
How long will these batteries last in the field?
You can expect the overall battery life to be between a regular alkaline battery and a non-rechargeable Lithium battery.
All-in-all, this is the best battery option we have seen - possibly ever. Compared to regular AA Lithium batteries, you pay for the cost of these batteries after two charges. After that, you are money ahead.
