Q&A

I just watched the video, "Choosing the right battery for your game camera". So you compared alkaline/lithium/rechargeable NiMH. One of the statements was that the Rechargeable NiMH do not last as long and you need to check your game camera more often. But was that when compared to lithium or alkaline? I hunt in Michigan's upper peninsula in November. So it will get cold at night, and may be below freezing during the day, depending on the year. I may run some trail cams 60 days prior. I do not run cameras year round. So I am not so sure I want to buy lithium, since I'm not probably going to run my cameras until the batteries go dead. And I would not want to put 1/2 life batteries back in the following season. But from what I hear, I'm definitely going to have trouble in cold weather with Alkaline. This area of the country rarely gets over 85 degrees in the late summer/fall. So I don't think I'll have a heat issue. I run a number of Stealthcam G42 or G45 NG cameras.
For your scenario, I'd do Lithium batteries. They do not have a shelf-life, so you could use them for the season and then let them sit on the shelf until next year. They won't lose a charge in the meantime. Hope this helps!
